At Calvary Christian Academy, we believe education extends far beyond the classroom. One of the most powerful ways students grow in their faith is by putting it into action through service. This spring, our 11th-grade class had the incredible opportunity to do just that.
In May, a group of CCA juniors traveled to El Salvador for a mission trip that left a lasting impact on everyone involved. Throughout the week, students served in a variety of ministries, shared the Gospel, built meaningful relationships, and experienced firsthand what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
The trip challenged students to step outside their comfort zones, serve others with humility, and see God’s work in a different part of the world. Along the way, they witnessed lives being transformed through the power of the Gospel while also discovering how God was working in their own hearts.
We are deeply grateful to the families, supporters, and friends who helped make this experience possible through their prayers and generosity. Your support allowed these students to participate in an opportunity that will continue shaping their faith for years to come.
A Leader’s Perspective
Senior leader Jillian Koch reflected on the impact of the trip and the remarkable growth she witnessed among the students:
““I am so incredibly proud of this team of juniors that served their hearts out for the Lord. This was my 3rd trip to El Salvador and was my favorite no doubt. Being able to experience this trip through a leader’s perspective was such a blessing. These kids poured out everything and went the extra mile in all that they did. God worked in SO many powerful ways this trip and my prayer is that these students continue to stay on fire for Jesus. We had the opportunity to see Caleb and Libby get baptized and the work God is doing in them is beautiful. I can see so evidently the servant hearts these students have and the work ethic they have is strong. These students have a desire for the Lord and a desire to serve and it’s amazing to see. Continue to pray for each one of these students and the lives they impacted here. So proud of all of these students and I am so thankful for the friendships I now have because of this trip!”
A Student’s Testimony
For junior Libby, the people she met left one of the greatest impressions.
“What impacted me the most during the trip was the people. Getting to see the kids and adults there giving their lives to God was amazing to watch and was so wonderful. Even being able to see how they live was mind blowing. I thought it was amazing how the kids were when we went into their houses, they were so proud of them and they wanted to show us everything. This trip was such a blessing and gave me a new perspective on a lot of things.”
Growing Faith Through Service
Mission trips like this are an important part of the Calvary Christian Academy experience. They provide students with opportunities to deepen their faith, develop a heart for service, and learn how to impact the world for Christ.
While the students traveled to El Salvador to serve others, they returned home having been changed themselves—growing in compassion, gratitude, courage, and dependence on God.
As a school community, we celebrate what God accomplished through this trip and look forward to seeing how He continues to work in the lives of these students. Thank you again to everyone who prayed, gave, and supported this mission. Your partnership helped make an eternal impact.
